On day 41, TwoWheelsNoCash confirmed Nestor Bazhenov's move to Tashkent Browncoats for 35.000$. The move raised some eyebrows on the transfer forum, especially because it's a transfer of a 38 year old cobbler for 6.000$ above his estimated value, who hasn't had a result in more than two seasons, or even ridden a race in the current season, to a downhill specialised team.
However, the transfer only was natural in the eyes of Nestor and the Browncoat management. This because Nestor is currently the last active rider from the 15 founding riders of the Browncoats. He's also without a doubt the most succesful rider from those 15, as he has been on the podium ten times, half of them on the highest platform. It has to be noted though that none of these results were during his time at the Browncoats, even though he was already a moderatly skilled cobbler when he left.
"I'm very happy to be back" Nestor commented on his move "Even though my prime was during my time in Holland, it feels good to be back were it all started, even though a lot has changed. When I left, the Browncoats were a team still deciding between cobbling and time trailing, jumping back and forth between divsion 7,8 and occasionally even 9. Now it's a team winning races in division 4 and getting results in tours, and with Yanik (Arda) they even have an actual legend in their team. But still, I already saw Yelisey (Chuprin) and Thanassis (Dadakos), who were in the team when I left, and I'm planning on visiting Robert (Zimnyakov), who works in the city, later this week, to talk about the old times. And of course Mal (That's me!) is still here. I'm eager to ride in the brown jersey again, even if it's just for a race. I'm very thankful that this move could be realised, and I would like to thank MacS for giving me this opportunity to retire close at home. Furthermore, I'd like to thank my teammates, the staff and above all the fans of TwoWheelsNoCash for my amazing time there."
It is currently unknown when Nestor will retire, but rumour has it that he wants to do some PR-jobs for the Browncoats, cashing in on his status and at the same time repaying the surplus on his RV. When asked about this, Nestor responded with a smile:
"That my legs won't permit me to win division 6 cobble races anymore, doesn't mean I can't help my team anymore. Plus, it would be amazing to reach my 40th cap in the NT cobble race on day 12."
